Speedo is an
internationally recognised aquatic equipment brand that creates and sells
everything from children’s floats to high performance racing suits. One thing
speedo does well is brand recognition. There are hundreds of swim suit brands
in the world but all brief sized ones are referred to as “speedos.” This has
been due to Speedo’s dominance in this area of marketing for well over 100 years. Over time, the market has become a little more competitive, especially
in the sale of racing suits. Speedo does an excellent job at advertising its
performance end merchandise, they sponsor all of the fastest swimmers in the world and post them all over their social media sites. However Speedo is lacking on its digital advertising for the things that it
began selling at the beginning of the company way back in 1910. Things like floats, children’s toys, aquatic
games, recreation swim wear. Speedo needs to reconnect with its younger and more amateur target audience by advertising
these things more often and in more creative ways. Speedo needs ads that are targeted more towards the general public to be in the social media accounts more often (see below).
